Go Natural

We now live in a very processed and artificial world. We have artificial food, hair, eye lashes, vegetable, fruits, and any and everything. Organic farming is fast becoming obsolete while genetically modified food, processed food, vegetables and fruits are marketed everywhere and cheaper to produce, store.

Eating processed and artificial foods has been linked to a number of health challenges including cancers, constipation and allergic disorders. As chemicals are used to produce, process, store and preserve most foods, the body is exposed to very harmful chemicals that result in various kinds of cancers including cancer of the liver and colon.

Chemical in food can also result in metabolic disorders like diabetes, hypercholesteremia, chemical toxaemia. For instance, eating food and meat that was produced with fertilizer, antibiotics and pest control results in exposure to dangerous chemicals that may result in resistance to antibiotics and difficulty treating common infections.

Eating process, synthetic foods, highly processed foods and or even chemicalized food because they are cheap, available, tasty, and even fast, but these are dangerous and sometimes agents of ill health. Going for natural food, plant products grown organically is vital to good health. In a world where many fight various diseases and over 80,000 different chemicals, it is wise to minimize the chemicals that we deliberately introduce into our system as food and drinks.

There are four stages at which chemicals are deliberately introduced to food. These are at production, processing, preparation and storage stages.

At production stage, chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides are used to facilitate grown and fruitfulness of the seed, prevent pests and destroy weeds; but these also find their way into the plans and crops resulting in high levels of these chemicals in the leaves, fruits and products of these crops. The more chemicals used to ensure good harvest, the higher the level of these chemicals in the final products.

At the processing stage, a lot of chemicals are introduced to either ripen, preserve, sweeten, or flavour, colour, or improve the quality the fruits or the final outputs. Chemicals are also used to ensure long shelf life for the products, marketability and profitability. Most of these chemicals were approved before proper control studies were concluded and currently found to be dangerous to the human bodies.

During preparation, adding chemicals into the food such as sweeteners, spices, etc increase the chemical load of the final product resulting in greater health challenges for the users and eaters. Chemicals can also be added during storage to prevent pests and harvest food destruction.

To eat healthy meals, chemicals must be reduced at these four vital stages – production, processing, preparatory and storage. This can be done through organic farming where only natural manures are used to enhance productivity of seeds. Although organically produced foods may be slightly more expensive, they are healthier and help prevent long term complications that may lead to terminal diseases like cancers, Alzheimer diseases, allergic disorders and even organ failures.
